SHLTC welcomes our new Head Coach – Tom Warburton, who will be joining us in July. We are sure that Tom will continue to enable Shooters Hill to grow and develop as a club at the heart of its community which welcomes players at all levels.
He succeeds the legend that is Phil Layfield, who will be a hard act to follow. Over the last 14 years Phil has taken the club from strength to strength and, despite the COVID difficulties we have all faced, is passing on a thriving, vibrant and successful coaching team and programme.
Shooters must be doing something right because we had 9 applicants for the post, shortlisted 4 and interviewed a very strong field of 3- all of whom we could have appointed. Tom has run a club like ours in the North and we are confident he will be a fantastic Head Coach.
A few words from Tom:
I’m looking forward to joining Shooters Hill LTC and getting to know everyone at the club. Coming off the back of 2 years as assistant Head Coach and one year as acting Head Coach at a club very similar to SHLTC I’m excited to bring my fun, welcoming, inclusive and competitive approach.
I’ll be working hard to offer everybody at Shooters Hill the chance to get on court, enjoy and compete.
Hopefully, these uncertain times are coming to end and we can all get back to the sport we love in a safe and social environment.
Tom joins us officially on Sunday 18 July and we know that you will be keen to meet him but until we know what is happening with COVID restrictions we cannot finalise these plans. We will keep you informed.
