Dear Members,
I hope you all had a wonderful summer and managed to play some tennis. Hopefully you were all inspired by Andy Murray retaining his Olympic singles gold medal! What an amazing achievement.
Thank you to all members who supported the summer holiday coaching programme. I hope those who attended a junior coaching camp or an adult coaching session enjoyed them. I’d like to thank the coaching team for all their hard work over the summer, for making it one of the most successful ever.
The adult and junior coaching programme resumes on Monday 5th September for 7 weeks. For those sessions that book in, please do so asap to reserve your space. Please note, certain lessons will be slightly more expensive due to the use of floodlights. I will be in touch with all groups to confirm costs soon. Please note, there are new sessions being introduced from next week. These include:
Wednesdays 10-11.30am: new adult coaching session for all abilities with club coaches James Maloney and Jon Pitchford. Please note, this is available to members (£6 per week) and non members (£8 per week). This session will be capped at 16.
Sundays 9.30-10.30am: new team coaching for ladies 2nd team and men’s 3rd and 4th team with club coach Dan House. Please note, this is for team players only who will be invited by the coaching team.
Sundays 4-5pm: new cardio tennis session after club play with club coach Jane Zinopoulos. Please note, this is available to members (£5 per week) and non members (£8 per week). This session will be capped at 12.
Summer Ball
Tickets are still available for the upcoming Summer Ball on Saturday 10th September. Not only is it great fun, but a signed Andy Murray shirt from the recent Davis Cup match is available in the raffle. Plus you get to see the coaching team all dressed up and showing off their dance moves! Please contact our club secretary, Caroline Ratcliffe to purchase your tickets at secretary@shltc.info. All members and guests are very welcome.
Special message from our Fixture Secretary, Veronica McNamee. All our summer fixtures have been completed. Well done and thank you to all those members who represented the club over the summer. More records were broken with more matches being played than ever before! Our Kent Men’s 1 team won their division and will play Beckenham on Saturday 3rd September to determine who wins the trophy. Both teams are promoted. Well done to captain Dan House and his team. Our Kent Mixed 1 team also won their division and will now play Tunbridge Wells on Sunday 4th September to determine who wins the trophy. Both teams are promoted. Well done to captain Francesco Donadio (seen below celebrating!) and his team.
See you all soon.
Many thanks, Club Captain Phil Layfield.
