OCTOBER HALF TERM JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAMME

Wow, how is it almost the school holidays! Tom has put the details for the school holiday program on his clubspark page, however please find the link below. The sessions will be running on Monday 27th – Wednesday 28th October. As always you can book one day, or all three. Other junior friends and family are able to book a holiday course without being a member. Please do remember to wrap up warm in layers, bring a water bottle as well as food and perhaps a waterproof jacket just in case!!

AGM FOR CLUB ON MONDAY 10TH NOVEMBER AT 8PM IN THE CLUB HOUSE

All the details went out last week for the AGM. If you wish to stand as a Director please ensure you get the form in by the time stated on the letter attachment. Hope to see as many members there as we discuss the way forward for the club

NORTH WEST KENT PRESENTATION EVENING

John and a number of the Team Captains attended the annual presentation last Friday night. As always a great night was had by all, and of course we picked 5 trophies for the Club too! This was second equal with all clubs taking part. Hope you like the picture.

MP FOR SHOOTERS HILL VISITS THE CLUB

On Friday at 1pm the MP for Shooters Hill Ms Abena Oppong-Asare visited the club.  She helped us when we raised concerns re the sustainability streets proposal by Greenwich Council which was eventually not put into operation. We explained how the club was run and the volunteers who made it possible. She was impressed with the diversity of the club and may even join in the future.

GUEST OF HONOUR FOR FEBRUARY PRESENTATION 2026

The guest of honour at the club’s presentation Mr Ola Obaro, Independant LTA councillor visited the club on Saturday moring as he was keen to see the club in operation. It was busy with juniors and adults in the coaching programme. Several directors met him and explained what the club did and how is operates. Looking forward to seeing him again in February 2026 at the club presentation.

TENNIS COURTS 5 & 6 CLEANING

This will take place this Wednesday and Thursday, from 7am – 9.30pm, so these courts will be closed the entire day on Wednesday and until 16.00 hrs on Thursday.

QUEEN’S MEMORIAL CUP AS AMERICAN  TOURNAMENT – 26TH OCTOBER

This weekend’s American Tournament will be the Queen’s Memorial Cup from 2.30-4.30pm. Members please check your email for the link on how to book.

SHOOTERS HILL ANNUAL JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

There will be a Junior Competition on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st October. Juniors members will receive an email explaining how to enter.

FUTURE DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Saturday 20th December – 10.30 – Father Christmas will visit the Tennis Club

Saturday 28th February 2026 – Club’s annual presentation at the Golf club for Juniors and Adults.

PRO RATA MEMBERSHIP

September Pro Rata Membership Rate for the remainder of the membership year (31st March 2026). Juniors who joined in the Summer Camps and now want to take lessons during term time, please remember you need to become a member if on the coaching programme. You can take advantage of the Pro Rata Rate.

Completing membership forms has now got easier and I am pleased to report new memberships are coming in. We have had the website improved so you now pay at the same time you complete your form. There may be some teething problems but if so please email secretary@shltc.info so they can be addressed.

WINTER TEAM RESULTS

North Kent

Ladies 1 lost 3-1 to Sundridge Park 1 Away at the weekend. The team playing were Maria Perfect, Olivia Flynn, Ros McKeown and Oksana Boklag.
Mixed 2 lost to Oakwood 2 Away, in awful weather conditions, that just got worse as the afternoon went on. So at half time, it was decided to stop playing. The team playing were Jan Are Mo, Tracy Davy, Marion Hopkins-Tourrel and Rob Thomas.
Men’s 4 won 3-1 against Sidcup David Lloyd 1 at Home. Sadly Sidcup could only send one pair, however both rubbers went to championship tie breaks! The team playing were Jiggs Sahota, Iain Goosey, Abel Coolen and Jason Barkworth.
