IMPORTANT: GREENWICH’S SUSTAINABLE STREETS PROPOSALS

A further update: The consultation has been extended into September, as so many locals complained about the survey coming out during the school holidays when many people were away!! The survey has apparently been made slightly easier to follow! If you don’t live in shooters hill effected roads, instead of entering your postcode, you can click other and say you are a member of the tennis club. There is to be a local consultation meeting at the end of August, again whilst a lot for people are away, we are awaiting further details as to when & where, so we will keep you updated as it sounds like you would need to ‘book’ a space to attend the meeting.
Many members have contacted the club over concerns of the councils ‘Sustainable Streets Proposals’, especially those who live in the surrounding streets of the Club. Caroline has written to a number of relevant Councilors and the local MP’s and is awaiting a response. In the mean time we have been reading up on the proposals. The councils website states ‘Streets will be “greener, safer, and more sustainable” under the project, adding that the proposals will cut down on parking congestion, help people switch to electric vehicles and encourage cycling’. However the reality seems parking restrictions, parking permits and time restrictions are all being proposed and this will affect members greatly. Please take part in the survey. More information will follow from the club

MENS SHOWER

We had a report of the men’s shower not draining, we have had Grant one of the plumbers who fitted the new toilets & basins over on Saturday to look into the problem. Its been discovered that one of the large trees behind the club house, has grown roots through the pipework. Therefore the men’s shower will be out of action for a little while, whilst we assess the options of that can be done.

SMALL RUBBISH BINS ON COURTS

Please could members not leave large objects (coffee cups, ball tubes, bottles and balls) in the small bins on courts. These are really for small items and ring pulls. Please put the large items in the bins in the club house!  Tennis balls can be put in the recycling dustbin in the clubhouse, as we get a small amount of money for recycling them and it helps the environment.
