To qualify for the Earlybird membership form and payment MUST be received by 12MN 31.3.25 or full rate applies.
A completed form and payment must be received before access to the booking system is given. Family membership only applies if there are 3 people applying and one is a full adult.

| 15% discount. Must be 1 full paying adult and 2 or more children. Minimum of 3 people so could be 2 adults and 1 or more children. Please complete separate forms for each person and then email secretary@shltc.info for cost. |
On joining, all full adult members will receive a shoe tag, letter and a key to the clubhouse enabling them access to operate the floodlights. The lights cost £8 per hour. All other categories of membership will receive a shoe tag and letter. The tag must always be brought with you when playing at the club to prove membership. The letter gives you all the details you might need on joining the club. Members may bring and pay for visitors through bookings £5 but can only bring the same person 3 times and then they must join. No one can play in the teams until they have joined the club. Membership is non-refundable.
Social Tennis Sessions at SHLTC
Wednesdays & Fridays: 7:00 pm and Sundays: 2:00 pm
Our social tennis sessions are designed to provide friendly, enjoyable matches for members. Play is usually doubles (depending on numbers), and all adult and intermediate members are welcome.
How It Works
- Matches last around 20–25 minutes.
- At the end of each match:
- The losing pair remain on court and split sides.
- The winning pair move to the next court and also split sides, partnering with
one of the players who stayed on.
This simple rotation ensures everyone gets to play with a variety of partners and
opponents.
Scoring
- Matches follow conventional scoring.
- At deuce, the second deuce point is played as ‘sudden death’.
Bookable Sessions
- Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons must be booked in advance via Clubspark.
- Booking links are emailed to all members every Monday morning.
- As places are limited, members are expected to play for the full two‑hour session.
- Members need to cancel if unable to attend to free up space for others.
Drop‑In Session
- Friday evenings are drop‑in sessions — no booking required.
- Simply turn up and play for as little or as long as you like.
- If more players arrive than courts allow, members will take turns sitting out for one match so that everyone gets a game.
Floodlights
- During the autumn and winter months, players are required to contribute towards floodlight costs.
- The amount varies depending on lighting times, but in the winter season it is set at £4 per player.
- Payment can be made either by card or with 4 × £1 coins.
WhatsApp Group
The SHLTC “Hitting” WhatsApp group is open to all members who wish to join.
- It provides a space to arrange regular games and matches.
- It is also used for announcements and updates about the social tennis schedule.
Joining the group is a great way to stay connected with fellow players and ensure you never miss a session. (Note: this group is not to be used for general ‘chit chat’).
