SHLTC Club Singles Tournament:
What a day! 16 men and 6 ladies battled it out to reach the semi final stage in the men’s tournament and the final stage in the ladies tournament. The level of play did not disappoint, as did the weather. A massive thank you to all members who supported the club on the day and to all the volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly. A special mention to head chef Phil Smith, head bar manager John Ratcliffe and ball girl Gail Youd! I hope you like the photos of our men’s quarter finalists and ladies semi finalists.

LTA Volunteer of the Year – National Awards:
Unfortunately Club Secretary Caroline Ratcliffe narrowly missed out on winning this prestigious award but still managed to have a wonderful day out at Wimbledon on Tuesday 4th July on centre court. The ground staff took great care of Caroline in her wheelchair and she enjoyed the fact she was nominated in the top 3 volunteers in the country by sipping Pimms and enjoying the tennis.
Pimms Day – Sunday 9th July 2-4pm:
All members are invited to join club play this Sunday as there is an added twist or should that be a drop of Pimms! It’s that time of year again when we all get to wear our pristine white outfits, watch the wonderful tennis on offer at SW19 and sip Pimms into the evening! It’s our club Pimms Day this Sunday, so please all turn up to enjoy a day playing tennis and drinking Pimms! The perfect combination!
Many thanks,
Club Captain
Phil Layfield.
