CLUB HOUSE CHANGING ROOMS

I hope you like the on going changes to the changing rooms and toilets, thank you again for your patience. We now have new carpet tiles in the changing rooms and coaches storage area, donated to us from two places locally. Thank you to Gareth my brother who spent two afternoons laying them for us. Still a few things to finish over the coming week, but we are really pleased on how its turned out. Thank you for your kind comments when you’ve seen my brother and I this week at the club. Watching some of the juniors literally stand and watch glue on the floor dry, so they could run and tell us it was ready, really made us smile. Then another young man who ran into the changing rooms and then straight back out to tell me I had done a good job made our day. So thank you everyone.

CLUB SINGLES

We were very lucky with the weather and managed to get the singles competition completed.
In the finals are
Ladies main draw: Daisy Rowland v Lauren Esler
Men’s main draw: Richard Fay v Jack Rowland
Men’s plate: Max Saunders v Max Powell
Congratulations to all those who took part. There was a lot of good tennis played. Also thanks to the referee Francesco Ponno who did a great job ensuring it all ran smoothly.

HEAD COACH TOM GOT MARRIED

We wanted to say Congratulations to Tom & Hannah who got married last week. Couldn’t have chosen better weather for sure. We hope your marriage will be full of love, laughter and tennis!

NK CUP SINGLES SEMI FINALS

Well done to Rich Fay who played in the NK Cup Singles Semi Finals against Kemsing on Saturday, 6-4, 4-6,10-8. Fantastic results, especially as their was an hours delay for rain. Rich wanted to thank Jo Thomas and Dave Richardson who went along to support him and watch. Now onto the finals, well done Rich, you did SHLTC proud.

SUMMER LEAGUE TEAM RESULTS

Still extremely hot out there, please do take care. lots of water and sun lotion needed, which makes a change to raincoats and hats.

North Kent

Over 60’s Men lost to Blackheath at Home, 3-5. Only needed to have won one more set to have achieved a draw! The team playing were Greg Gadd, Jon Beaumont, Dom Scott Malden & Rob Thomas. (Thanks for the left over donuts gentlemen, a much appreciated snack when laying carpet tiles!)

Men’s 2 won against Catford Wanderers 1 Away. They are now mathematically the undisputed champions of the Summer Division League E, with one game to spare! A glorious run of 7 from 7 matches, which we believe will now result in promotion. The team Captain I know is very proud of the team, attributing the success to the Tuesday night practices and having a very deep squad of quality players. Well done everyone. The team playing in this match was Will Leney, Sam Morgan, Mark Plonka, Jack Andrews, Francesco Donadio and Jan Are Mo. Thanks for the pictures too.
