JACK PETCHEY AWARD – CHLOE

Well done Chloe on being awarded the Jack Petchey Award. Chloe has been a member of the club for a number of years now. She has always been a part of the junior programme at Shooters Hill in some capacity. Chloe has taken part in group coaching, had private hitting sessions and competed in the internal junior competitions. She shows great commitment to her tennis and has now been volunteering for over a year within the younger junior sessions, helping the mini red players progress all areas of their tennis. Chloe has recently completed her tennis leaders course at Shooters Hill. She shows great willingness to help on court and a genuine desire to help the juniors improve their tennis. We’ve seen her confidence grow with her volunteering and we hope to see it continue. “

NK CUP MATCHES

Men’s Vets

Well done to David Harrild and Mark Plonka who played Martin Dene Tennis Club on Tuesday and won 6-1, 6-1. Onto the next round gentlemen, good luck and keep us posted as to the date of the next round.

Men’s Singles

Good Luck to Richard Fay who will be playing Sidcup Rec in the Singles of the NK Cup. The match will be played on Monday 4th May at 4pm at Sidcup’s ground.

FAMILY SATURDAY NIGHT SOCIAL TENNIS

We’re excited to introduce a new family social. Sessions will run on Saturdays from 18:30 – 20:30, using courts 1 and 2. Open to juniors 11+ (secondary school age) playing with yellow balls. This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy some relaxed, social tennis together.
Bookings can be made via Clubspark using the parent account (please include the junior in the booking), the link will be sent each Monday just like the adult social. Adult Family Members are welcome to play (including parent only members), but it’s not essential, making the session flexible and inclusive for all. However the family member bringing the junior must stay at the club during the session, if they choose not to play.
Spaces will be limited to ensure everyone gets plenty of time on court, so we recommend booking early once sessions go live each Monday. We’ll have light organisation in place to help matches run smoothly and keep things enjoyable for everyone.

LED LIGHTS ON COURTS 3-6 – UPDATE

This process is still ongoing and sadly has been postponed to early summer. We have now displayed the paperwork again regarding the planning as instructed by the Council. Fingers crossed we are edging towards good news we hope. We have now been advised by the lighting company that we are in the schedule for June/July, subject to final signing off by Greenwich’s planning department.
