Just to remind you all the club is hosting the 2017 North Kent Cup Finals Day on Sunday 30th July from 12 midday onwards. There will be no American Tournament that day. Please come along to support the players on the day. We have members representing the club in the men’s singles & vets ladies doubles!

Any Volunteers?

Sunday hosting the NK Finals is a big day for the club with many visitors expected. If you think you could help out (from about 11am to 6pm) please let Caroline Ratcliffe know: secretary@shltc.info or 07940562271

We are going to need as many people as possible! 🙂

Well done to all members who represented the club, especially to those members making their debuts for several teams.  Welcome to the club Martin!

New Coach Martin Shishkov: I hope you have all met Martin and given him our world famous Shooters Hill welcome!  We haven’t put him off yet, as he is still keen to coach at the club!  Well done to Luke for spotting him at the L1 training day and tapping him up!  He is currently taking his Level 3 coaching award and is a welcome addition to the coaching team.

End of term:  Solid end to the term and academic year.  Numbers inevitably dropped a bit around the exam season but very encouraging and looking good for September.

Road to SW19:  Jack Rowland and Thalia Remice represented the club at Bromley LTC and did us proud.  Jack won his first round and Thalia reached the semi finals losing 10-8 on a champions tie break. Well done to all involved.

Quorn Family Cup:  I will be planning an orange ball competition for 11-18 year old juniors and their parents for early September.  Watch this space!

Summer Holidays:  The competition week is going well so far, with Martin running these to get to grips with the LTA competition structure.  Bookings are coming in for the coaching camps throughout August and a few adult members are starting to book into the adult coaching programme.

Sunday Club Play 1-2pm:  Thanks to Ron for committing to doing this on a voluntary basis throughout August.  The one Sunday Ron is away, Club Chairman JR has volunteered his time and expertise around the court to supervise any new members/beginner level members.

AEGON League Tables:  Another successful season.  Well done to Veronica for organising ALL the matches and to all the team captains.  The juniors were successful again in several divisions.  I will mention this in my next website write up.

GBTW:  Not as busy as the previous one but we still had 4 courts in use with families coming along and i believe we even managed to get a family to join.  Well done Madam Secretary!

Finals Day:  Unfortunately the rain put hold to us trying to achieve a new club record by playing 22 finals in one day!  17/22 is still pretty good!  Thanks to all who were involved on the day.  Very long day, but worth it when you see so many happy faces, mainly the juniors!

Many thanks,

Club Captain

Phil Layfield.
